Intro - Green Certified Interior Designer

Hello All,

I am a woman owned LEED and NCIDQ certifed Interior Designer with a DBA. I wish to change from sole to LLC. I am located in LA so a name change is required for the city, but I am unsure what to do for the state. There is online paperwork that can be completed, but unsure if I create a new one and cancel the old one or not?

My goal is to have business with the Government in commercial green section, so my next question would be were should I start? My business is semi new and does not have the financial records that is currently required. Any advise? Thanks

Welcome to the forum; you'll most likely want to form your L.L.C. company in the state you do business in, however some people choose specific states like Delware to form their L.L.C. due to their low registration costs. Once you make the L.L.C. you can simply disolve the DBA. I'm not to sure where you could start off getting involved in the green sector and hopefully another member can assist you with that. If you need help with your L.L.C. you can check out LegalZoom (just Google it) as they provide L.L.C. creation services and are much cheaper than a lawyer if you don't want to do it yourself.
