This site details everything you need to know about the particular business you are running in New York State and New York City. Simply choose your business type, answer the subsequent questions, and make sure you answer 'Yes' to the question, 'Would you like general information about starting or expanding a business?' You will be sent to a page that lists everything you need to start, run and operate a business in New York City. That page will give you a link that will register you for everything required of a New York City business. You can even go back and re-answer the questions differently to see what other requirements you may incur under slightly different parameters.
