First of all thank you very much to this community for a wonderful post.   First of all every business or company should write the different - different types of disaster and how to overcome from this disaster.Then take out print and should be place on notice board and give one copy to every employees including peon and sweepers also, so they should get awareness what to do at time of disaster or emergency.   Second thing every business or company should conduct monthly test of all employees also employer including peons, sweeper. And everybody has to participate in test so everyone knows that where they are lacking when this type of situation comes. Also they can share knowledge as per there experience. So i think this is the best way that when any disaster or emergency arise then everyone can solve it easliy as they are now aware what to do when any disaster occurs. Peon and sweepers also do something to sovle as they are now got awareness.

Happy day ! In my point of view, our all data's are stored in external harddisk. Employees also need to be trained on the basics of the plan. All best plan instructions are written step by step as Bank, ATM, Cell, phone, computer, Internet and etc. Thanks.

Coming from a disaster-prone area of the country, I immediately think of one thing: an intranet. Have a company intranet that allows all employees to talk and communicate amongst themselves, and have all employees place their contact info (cell phone, home phone, email, etc) in a place where other employees (or supervisors) can get it within the intranet.   One great open-source intranet is called OpenAtrium. (There are others as well.)   In the aftermath of Katrina, a lot of businesses around here learned this lesson when it was too late. It would have saved a lot of time and worry had this been a standard procedure at the time.   Also, have your intranet hosted on an out-of-state server so it will not be affected by a disaster in your immediate area.

To protect business documents and records there should always exist a paper record and an electronic record immediately at hand.  There should also exist copies of the paper record and a usb storage device of electronic records stored in a third party storage facility.  That way if there is a fire or theft, the company can recover very quickly.

Everything for our small business is on our computer.  Three weeks ago when we were in a meeting at another location our lap top was stolen.  We lost everything, it was devastating to say the least.  What saved us though was our back up.  We only lost a weeks worth of information because we hadn't backed up our information for a week.  Now we make sure we back up our system every day.

Most businesses that have vital information can back it up with online servers. Very important, especially health care professionals that now have to use electronic patient records.
