Keith Gilabert, "How to safely buy products made in China?"

I often get asked, "how do I safely buy products made in China?" The biggest
risk in buying from China is not losing your money but it's getting inferior
products.
There are 3 main areas I focus on:
1. Integrity and business ethics - A company needs a good reputation or I'm
not talking to them.
2. Financial capability - When buying from China do it with a Letter of
Credit. There will be no out of pocket money and the manufacturer needs to
deliver the goods as described before they get full payment from the bank.
3. Experience and Performance Capability - This is especially important if
you are importing toys or food service related products. There are testing
requirements that are very expensive and it is important that the
manufacturer is fully compliant or you may lose your goods to US customs.
I hope this helps in mitigating your losses when purchasing from overseas.
Thank you,
Keith

1. How do you locate a legit, fair, honest and reputable China manufacturer?
2. How do you control quality assurance?
3. How do you negotiate price?
4. From your experience, what legal verbage do you need in the contract?
5. What money terms do you highly recommend?
6. Any shipping advice, do's and don'ts?
Thank you.
