I think this ia an awesome discussion when it comes to blogging and making money. One of the easiest ways to making money online is to invest into a root system that can be duplicated by anyone who is looking for a window of opportunity. This is a similiar topic i ellaborated on within my blog which is called what to sell to make money on the web....

Panda relay changed everything, some old tactic do not work so good anymore. Now good content is the key.

I think it is really quite difficult to make money online. You have to know what you are doing and the learning curve is long and steep. I have quite a popular blog that is now a year and a half old and I am only now trying to make money from it.
In my experience, the best advice is to experiment with different methods, try them out for a month or six weeks and see what is getting the best results. I can recommend also CPM networks when you get paid for impressions, my website has a lot of impressions but not many clicks from adsense, so you can still be making money even if people arent clicking! hope this helps!

Squidoo and Hubpages not that good anymore for SEO, there was a big penalty with Google Panda.

Like others mentioned, focus on creating content to your blog that is highly original and is "linkbait". Linkbait is typically something different that other people would have an incentive to link to, like an infographic. You can build up valuable traffic to your blog by generating powerful backlinks from high authoritative websites. To do this in your industry, it'd be best to "guest post" on blogs that are related to your industry. Contact other bloggers and ask them to post your original article; This will serve as a strong backlink to your own blog, just don't forget to link back!

If you want to get more from your AdSense monetization, consider looking at your keyword targeting. You could simply just stick with AdSense, pick keywords that have higher CPM and CPC, and get more for each click.
Also, a few other suggestions:
Amazon Associates (of course, not California or the other states they do not operate thanks to recent state tax laws)
ClickBank
Software affiliates like WordStream, SEOMoz, etc.
And never underestimate the power of writing reviews of products with affiliate links to encourage users to purchase the reviewed product through your website.
