I am wondering if it is required to have a license to sell swords (like the
military style ones used in presentations or for awards/gifts). I'm having a
hard time finding the answer to this simple question.

a business name and entity type with your state or county. If your state
collects sales tax, you will need a sales tax permit. You may also need a
local business license, which is issued by your city clerk's office. the city
clerk can tell you if there are additional requirements when you are selling
an item that could be classified as a weapon.
