In LLC registering in my state they ask for the type of management for the company, Manger or Member. What is the difference and what impact do each have in relationship to personal liability? I will be the sole owner and at least for now will not have any employees.

If you designate someone a manager, only the managers will have the right to vote and make decisions for the LLC while members can only invest.

I would consult a lawyer to learn more about the specifics of setting up an LLC.
