Looking for advice on getting a grant to fund phenomonal invention

I've checked out grants.gov and other agencies with no luck.  I am currently working with a design company to produce a product sample of my invention to an interested company that will market and mass produce my idea if pleased with the finished product sample.  The last and final stage.  Only problem is that to produce the product sample it involves financing on my part.  I have contacted several organizations with grant proposals with no response yet.  With limited income and slim to none loan opporotunities I am struggling with locating financing to get the ball rolling on my idea.  I'm not much of a business guru (I didn't major in that field) and I'm not looking to start a for profit business with my invention, but a non-profit organization may be in the works for the future.  I only look to receive royalties and work on other inventions well after.  Is there anyone that might have advice on how to proceed with getting the funding I need.

If your invention has real market defining potential then you might want to look further afield at international funding. There are venture capitalists all over the world looking to fund the next major innovation, and in some parts of the world cash flow is more free than the USA.

Most grants for inventions are available only for developing new technology. If your invention doesn't fit that category, you might contact a small business development center or a SCORE office in your area. A counselor can evaluate your invention and recommend sources of funding. Their services are free.
