The bankruptcy can be problematic. However, if the BK is fully discharged and you have reasonable credit since the discharge, you can still get equipment lease-purchase financing. You will need to have a business entitity (name) registered and have a reasonable (paid bills on time) track record for 2 years. Start-ups are very difficult unless you have at least a 700 FICO score. Lessors that finance these deals will usually require that you put at least 10% down payment (skin in the game), pay the 1st and last payments at at signing of lease documents, and sometimes a security deposit equal to one payment, when the deal closes. Change may not be the change you think will happen - politics get in the way. The SBA probably won't be able to help you. One, you still have to be underwritten by a lender and with bad credit - they may say no and not send your requst to the SBA and two, the new SBA program to help facilitate new small business lending has been postponed until June. There are equipment lenders - lenders that deal only with equipment - they understand your situtation and want to work with you. You could get a equipment loan or lease to get you started. Many of these lenders do not put so much emphsis on credit as traditional lenders do.

You wanted change and you got it :) You can check out the SBA.gov website and see if you qualify for anything they are offering; usually you need to wait 7 years after bankruptcy to have it's dark shadow not still following you, however you might be able to make something happen. Best of luck.
