Looking for web site(s) to assist in any loans/grants that would help and ex felon restart a business lost. Items needed would be vehicle, equipment to restart floor laying business, some front money. Individual is working for us as a handy man and is truly trying to get back on his feet. Bad decisions with the wrong people put him behind bars. Now out and really wants to have the right life and is with the right people.
I am trying to find anything that could assist him at his goals. We have spoke of possible requirements the fed or state could task him and he understands there could be some close monitoring. As a retired 1st Sgt I haven't sugar coated what he is up against. There is a deep hole he is trying to crawl out of, but he is trying, thus I will assist where I can. Right now it is with my PC.
He spoke of a fed program 'small business loan SB59026 and 59012' but haven't found anything, also went to www.sba.gov. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated

Grants are generally not available to start a for-profit business. Your friend's best bet would be to seek a loan and they are difficult to get in these economic times, even with the best of credit records. Can your friend work as a subcontractor for a company while he saves money to purchase the needed equipment? He might also contact your state departments of labor and commerce to see if they have any programs for which he qualifies, such as vocational training.
Today more people are choosing to stay in their homes and do remodeling or fixer-upper projects rather than moving, so he may be able to find work with a home remodeling business.
