What are the most popular techniques for marketing your business? Suggestions
appreciated.
I noticed a drastic increase by just putting outside my store plants making
it more attractive, balloons on railings, a lawn sign, a dog watering bowl
for those passing with dogs, and hanging products in windows.
But the most effective, which cost me a lot, was putting my company on the
towns walking map.
What have you done to promote your business?

fan page, and even a twitter page. Once the company website is built, you can
advertise it online using Google Adwords or Bing. Also, it's very important
to make sure the page will be SEO optimized.

These days everything is online. I agree with the above responses, and I can
tell you from first hand experience I get 94% of my business from online
marketing.
The first thing I would do is make sure you are verified on google+ local
(google places). To do this just google "how to list on google places". Fill
out all the information accurately. Aside from google there are many other
places to list you business online - some of them you may have already heard
of (linked in, facebook, yelp, merchant cirlce, yellowbook etc). Get started
on these online profiles to reach a different demographic.
Use other platforms such as instagram and twitter to build a follwing. Don't
forget to use your hashtags!

your local market. In addition to Google places and social media consider
hosting a blog on your own website.
I recently helped a client achieve a high page rank on Google which resulted
in approximately 40-50 new visits to her website within a 3 month period.
This was accomplished because she hosted a blog and continuously added new
content to it. This generated new traffic from search results on Google.
It takes time and a little sweat but if the sacrifice is made the rewards are
well worth it.

thing that worked for us was a giant inflatable character outside our store
with the company log on it, it really does get a lot of attention if you have
a lot of passing traffic.Another good one is to get some cup cakes made with
your company logo on them and hand them out, I know a local company that did
this some time back and it worked really well.

services from the place of production to the place of consumption. No single
marketing effort works all the time for every business, so it good enough to
keep on rotating the several marketing tactics and vary the approach method.
Its always good to send a second offer to your customer's immediately after
they have purchased your company's product.
