Moving from affiliate marking to a full on e-boutique

I've been doing online affiliate marketing in a niche men's fashion realm for
a couple years. Traffic and sales have consistently been on the rise since
launch in 2010 and all is promising.
I want to actually move my business to a full out online boutique (and
possibly in the future an actual physical storefront boutique), where you can
actually buy the products through me, instead of being linked off-site for
each product.
I'm very new to owning a business. One of my main questions is, will I need
to maintain a physical inventory? At this point, of course, I don't have any
sort of warehouse or business space. This is all done out of home. I've heard
of drop-shipping items, is this something that's common and a possibility? Or
what are my other options if I don't maintain an inventory.
Another question I had is actually getting people to sell their items on my
site. I'm part of lot of hand picked affiliate programs. Do I reach out
through those connections? Let's say I see a cool company, of which I love
their products, how do I go about asking them to sell their products on my
site?
I guess I just need to learn the process and steps on getting from point a:
seeing a product and liking it, to point b: reaching out to that company and
in the end, selling their products.
Any links to helpful information is much appreciated.
Thank you all in advance.

a wholesale website. Be careful in choosing one because there are many of
them out there and it will be challenging to find one that offers you
reasonable prices to be competitive. You may want to check e-Bay for
powersellers that are promoting items similar to what you like to sell and
check what drop shipper they are using. They're successful for a reason.
