Born and raised in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, I moved to Cincinnati and graduated from the University of Cincinnati in Accounting in 1985. I spent 22 years working as a financial advisor before the recession and poor personal decisions cost me my career. 18 months later I lost my house. Two years ago I lost my car and hit rock bottom. I ended up in a homeless shelter. It took me almost one year to get out of transcient housing. Three weeks later (one year ago) my rental home burned to the ground. I lost everything again and could have been killed. I turned things around and five months ago got a job working in inbound sales for Time Warner Cable. Now I need a small loan to buy a modest car and start my own business.

Hi there, I'm so sorry to hear about your misfortune. Try reaching out to a Certified Development Company (CDC): http://www.sba.gov/content/cdc504-loan-program-find-cdc . CDCs are nonprofit corporations certified and regulated by the SBA, that work with participating lenders to provide financing to small businesses. There are 270 CDCs nationwide, each covering a specific geographic area. To find your nearest CDC, enter your zip code in our Local Assistance tool and select "Certified Development Company" in the "Refine by Partner" section on the left. Good luck!!
