Internet marketing takes a lot of time, over a long period of time.     Don't forget to diversify your marketing efforts as much as you have time for.   People relationships will always be important.  If they apply or can apply to your business, develop them as well.     The reason for mentioning this and how it relates to internet marketing is a very basic concept.   If you put a very high percentage of your efforts there and the result falls short, or falls below expectations in the short term, you will be happy if other marketing efforts have paid off.    Other marketing efforts will include:  - Follow up.  Follow up on old customers.   Followup on exisiting customers.  - E-Mail campain for existing and new customers.     With regard to the Internet marketing, make sure your Keywords are the right ones.   Make sure there are enough people searching for the keywords you are targeting.  

I agree with what AJ has said. Make sure when you post your website on another website make sure its a respectable website that has good page ranking. To find out page ranking of pages, you can try using SEO moz tools (beleive 30 day free trial). Try signing up for their free blogs as well, that will give you a lot of insigt as well. SEO is key for websites - make sure you understand the concept and the correct keywords you want to target, incorporate that into your website and a pretty high volume.

Darius,  Although that seems like a great idea to create a type of directory listing website to help promote other sites, it may be 'google slapped' because google can tell that you are gaming for keywords, and can if you are just farming keywords on your site.  Just make sure all the domain sites that link you have high Authority on the web. For more SEO information, i recommend starting with Domain Authority/ page Authority as a search. There's more to SEO/online marketing than just creating a web directory and such.

Surely a website would not fail if it provide fresh and interesting contents to its target customer. Make sure your website provide relevant info then, most likely it would not fail.

If you don't have webite you can't increase your sale or even target your customers. IMO you take the right decision. After it  make sure to do SEO of it else your website won't support your business.
