Need business law help

A couple years ago a friend of mine and I decided to start a business, now
all of the ideas put on the table where mine and this business was to be
built upon my talent. The friend whom I no longer speak with, was going to
handle marketing and PR, along with providing financial support until we got
the business of the ground. Would he have any legal claim to the business if
I were to try and start it on my own? Nothing came of the business, only
ideas where shot around and again they were mostly mine including the company
name, and he contributed less than half of the start up costs. If you cannot
answer my question, do you know where I could find out? I am not shy to the
idea of doing research so if you know where I could find any business law
books or articles to research for myself that would also be of great help.
Thank you

have a business. Did you have an attorney draw up a legal partnership
agreement? If not, you may need to talk to an attorney before reviving the
business. Because your friend gave you money toward the business, that needs
to be dealt with, either by repaying him/her and getting them out of the
picture or figuring out how to go forward.
As JGabriel mentioned, a counselor at a small business development center or
SCORE office can recommend how best to proceed and do it legally.
