Need for a business license

I've recently been offered a position with a company that I applied to through Careebuilders.com. I am interested in knowing if I need/or if it would be beneficial for me to have a business license to perform this job from my home. The duties of the position are as follows: 1.) Receive payments from the corporation's clients and deposit them to a bank account that I establish. 2.) effect payments to the corporation via Western Union transfer from this account. 3) Report directly to the senior manager.
I would work from home. The corporation assumes no responsibility for observance of fiscal laws, corporation is not responsible for withholding taxes, social security, worker's compensation or unemployment insurance.
I imagine that I would be responsible for some if not all of these and if so should I be registered as a home based business? Do I need a license? The hiring corporation does not mention being a business owner; however, the corporation does consider me to be an independent Financial Representative. It appears to me that this is analogous to contract work and that I am essentially a contractor. If so can I do this job without a business license? If so is there any benefit to doing the job without a business license? Are there other questions I need to ask before entering into the agreement?
This is part-time work while I am in school and something I can do in the evenings.
Thanks,
Newbiz
