I am trying to get free information on getting a small business grant to start a store in my town. I saw on a different website that women have grant money available but they wanted me to buy the information. I have looked on this website but can only find loans. I would prefer a grant in case the business doesn't take off I won't be stuck paying a bunch of money back.
Grants are not generally available to for-profit businesses. The information you saw for sale was probably a scam, designed to make the seller rich at your expense. There are a few grants available to women business owners, but most are for a very small amount of money and are usually for doing something innovative or in the best interests of the community.
As you have discovered, your best bet is to look for a low interest loan.
