Getting a loan for a pawn shop is difficult (but it's possible) - your loan application will be viewed much differently than most industries because typical lenders view pawn shops as 'speculative'. For example, a pawn shop is not eligible for a SBA loan. The SBA states that businesses cannot be engaged in loan packaging, speculation, investment, or lending. Specific types of businesses not eligible for SBA loans are anything classified as Lending Activities' - including banks, finance companies, factors, leasing companies, insurance companies (not agents), pawn shops, floor planning, and any other firm whose stock in trade is money. Your best chance of getting a loan will be finding a wealthy individual or another pawn shop owner willing to take a risk. Typical mainstream lenders are not going to be useful to you.

saltine, I don't see why it would be different. Business.gov has a lot of resources in regards to Loans. There is also a good article for start-ups in regards to getting. -JimD
