I've decided to start my business after being laid off.
An no compete agreement was never required for office personal, just a requirement for the serviceman if they wish to work for this company.
At the time of being laid off I was ask to sign a no compete agreement, which I refused to do.
The main reason for the refusal was that I have been working in the same trade since the early eighties and not to be able to work in this trade for three years, limited my chances to find employment in trade that I know.
In the seven plus years working for my past employer, I have made a lot of business relationship.
A large number of these companies, have ask me to do their work once I'm up and running.
Knowing my past employer with his lawyer and his history for going after ex-employes. Even though when we hire new servicemen and that we encourages them to bring on their accounts from their pass employer to increase our customer base.
I know that the law vary from state to state
I am here in Arizona
The question is does my old employer have any legal grounds to stop me from doing work with these companies, that wish to come on board once I'm up and running.
Thanks
Phillip
