For years, I have worked for others, and now I want to work for myself. I would love to start a homebased online business and then work into a brick and mortar store later. I am wanting to start out online first in order to keep overhead down. I can do the website myself. I have an AAS degree in Marketing/Management, so I should be able handle that side of things.
The two things I'm thinking about are either an online travel agency or an online bakery. I know with the bakery, I would have to have a food service license and I would have to package certain items with cold packs in order to keep them fresh while in route to customers. I even have at least one supplier in mind already for the bakery. I love to bake and I love ooey gooey goodies - so the bakery is right up my alley.
On the other hand, I also love to travel and I have always dreamed of going to exotic places like Figi and Hawaii as well as places with tons of history like Ireland, Scotland, and France. I just don't have a clue as to where to get the information to start the travel agency - as far as literature and the like. I already have a marketing strategy in mind though.
Any suggestions about these or other ideas would be great and very much appreciated. Often fresh eyes and a fresh mind will help out!
