I don't think you will need any special licences needed for your type of products.   While you are in Brazil I would recommend testing your 'products' that you are thinking of importing and selling to actually test the market by selling them on EBAY first.   Will be a great way to test the demand for your product without investing heavily in your product range.

All good information here - especially regarding understanding export/import and the laws surrounding it. Learn all that you can - will save you time and money in the long-run. You might think about working on a business plan - this plan will help you create your particular path to success and get you thinking about all aspects of the business. Try a local SBDC in the US or find SCORE.org online - both free to use. One suggestion - instead of selling these products yourself - on eBay or your own website - you might think about distributing them to other retailers or websites - let them sell the product to the customer as they are already selling to them - all you have to do is sell your product to these companies.

Hi Chris, Not knowing the market for your product, it sounds like a great idea! First, I assume you know about Brazil's strict tax collection structure. I have no clue how it pertains to online sales, but I would be sure to get informed. Brazil has one of the fastest growing developed economies and it's in part due to their tax revenue collection system. Here are some bullet points... Host your company on a US server Use a US domain such as .com, .net, .biz, etc. Be sure your products are unique or that you know who else is selling them online. Use Google Product Search or other shopping search engines. Be sure you're searching in the US market. Find a shopping cart script (program) that's search engine friendly. Most hosting plans come with multiple shopping cart options for free. I don't know if they're any good. If you need to buy one, they're cheap. Check out hotscripts.com Visit Google's Webmaster Tools and read EVERYTHING. They will tell you exactly what you need to know. (Do this FIRST) Visit soechat.com - You can get everything you need to know there including many reseach tools for free. SEO, SEO, SEO - Search Engine Optimization is really the business you're in. What you're selling is somewhat secondary. Get backup support. Sign up at rentacoder.com (RAC) and be prepared to oursource some emergency work. They have a quality tracking system kind of like eBay. I would recommend posting and paying for a few small jobs even if you have to make them up so you can get familiar with the system. Maybe start by having someone setup your website. Also, ALWAYS tell the coder that they did an excellent job at the end and follow-up with a bonus (note: RAC takes $3.50 out on their end so at least $5 on a really small job). This will cause them to give you a 10 rating and make finding a qualified engineer easier when you need one on short notice. You can get very good help for a great price on RAC but it's not too unusual to get someone who totally screws things up. Take your lumps and lesson learned. About 20% of the time I have to get projects done twice and I've got good experience there. Even paying twice, it's cheap. BACKUP YOUR WEBSITE AND DATABASE. Otherwise, you will be out of business at some time. Most everything you need is cheap or free so don't pay $200 or more for anything (hardware/software, etc.) Usually $30 or less is reasonable.
