I am a transplanted Texan living in Alaska.  I've been through a base closure and a relocation out of the communting area thereby taking early retirement.  I'd like to do contract work for the government in either administrative, transportation, travel management, accounting, etc.  Where do I start?  Thank you for any help you can provide.  I have excellent references having worked for the Air Force, Defense Logistics Agency, NOAA, Coast Guard and Bureau of Land Management.

Welcome to the Business.gov Community! The are plenty of opportunities to not only sell to the Federal government, but state government as well. A good starting point is the Government Contracting Guide. This resource provides info on how to register as a Federal contractor and bidding on contracts. Also, we just created a new government contracting discussion board specifically for aspiring and existing contractors to ask questions and to share experiences and ideas. As you are going through the registration process, please feel free to ask any questions on the discussion board.
