Eveything should be written in the articles. Even if you draft a seperate document - make sure that it is referrenced in the articles. For grants - as long as you have a certification from the IRS - you should be eligible for grants designated to exempt organizations. Your best option for gratns are as follows: 1) Find out who is in charge of your community development in your lcoal government and state government. Then, see what programs they offer. if you fit a program find out how to apply. if you don't fit - you could change your mission to fit. You might want to start with your local chamber of commerce to find out who is in charge of these community development offices. 2) Find other private foundations in your space and see if they have grant programs. If they do - you can simply send a letter of interest to the foundation (like the Bill and Melinda Gate's Foundation). if they like what you are proposing - you could be asked to submit a fomral grant application. Keep in mind that these foundations also have a mission - thus, make sure that your project or company fits their mission (helps them achieve what they are in business to achieve). Lastly, we also list many federal government resources on our site (far too many to list here) regarding government grant programs for non-profits. I would suggest that your start talking to those groups that offer grants - each will have their own rules and requirements. Also, the IRS has recently clearified some of its rules regarding exempt organizations - you might think about staying on top of thee changes.
