Yes, you can register any business as a non-profit - however, you might not be treated as one by your state or the IRS. You would have to get them to grant you non-profit status. Why do you want to be a non-profit? Do you think that if you register this way, you will qualify for a grant? Know that grants are usually only given to non-profits but your business still has to meet the criteria for a grant - which is more then just being a non-profit. Plus, obtaining a 501(c)(3) status from the IRS can be a bit costly.
