If that's so, I think you will have to have a permit in every state that you engage in business. For instance, peddlers in NYC have a permit to sale their items in that city. When they go to Atlanta, Georgia to sale their items, they will also have to seek permission from local authorities to do business in that city.
Reckon it depends on the type of business and license required. I have
detective licenses in both states, although we now have limited reciprocity.
Some years ago, I ran into various city/county tax people in South Carolina
demanding that I have some sort of privilege license for each and every town
I passed through while working. The State Law Enforcement Division was
advised and they ruled that the state requirement for a license superseded
the city/county requirements. Same in North Carolina although they did hit me
for a privilege license for my process service company which is not covered
under the detective license.
I'm not sure that I know what you are asking. Is your business located in South Carolina and you want to do business the North Carolina government?
What office issued your certification?

That's not necessarily true depending on his business.
For a mortgage broker, yes there are different regulations in each city. The same goes for caterers etc and most businesses.
Even my wine club, which is perhaps the most highly regulated of any talked about on this board (permits, excise taxes etc etc) has 3-4 states that I can do business in simply based on my California permits which are stricter then their own regulations, I simply file a quarterly or yearly tax statement in those states.
Simply put, we need more information to be helpful and beyond that it's well worth contacting someone in NC to ask this specific question.
