WHAT: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Small Business Program will host its Quarterly Business Seminar
WHEN: The seminar will begin at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2010
WHERE: Hilton Rockville Hotel, located at 1750 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland 20852.
PRICE: The event is free to attend with free on-site parking available.
ABOUT: The quarterly business seminars, held on the first Thursday of every quarter, target the business community. They are aimed at both large and small businesses, including those small businesses owned by the disadvantaged, women, veterans, and service-disabled veterans, and those located in Historically Underutilized Business Zones. Representatives from more than 300 businesses participate in each seminar, both in person and through the web. The seminar agendas typically include a brief agency welcome and overview, business introductions, a Small Business Program overview, a featured Technical Program Office overview, a legislative briefing by the Office of the General Counsel, and an overview of the agenc;s acquisition program by the Division of Contracts. For next wee-s briefing, the Computer Security Office will be the featured Technical Program Office, and Thorne Graham, Senior IT Officer, will discuss the work of the office. Other items on next wee-s agenda include welcome remarks and an agency overview presented by Diana Strong, Small Business Program Manager; an overview of the NRC contracts program, presented by Joseph Widdup, Branch Chief of the Information, Management and Technology Branch, Division of Contracts, Office of Administration; and a legal brief presented by Robin Baum, Special Counsel for NRC Acquisitions, Office of the General Counsel. Diana Strong will make closing remarks.
