Hello, I'm new to the community. We have been caught up in this housing industry mess. We have been self-employed for the past 7 years as sub-contractors[ new construction framing]. We were blessed to be able to continue working until an abrupt end to that at Christmas this past year. Since then I have been trying to research on my own how to find info on grant programs for online courses. We are in our late and early 50's. I still have time to further myself in another field but I need some guidance as to how I can access these programs. Also, I wanted to know if there are any unemployment programs designed for people in our position?

Have you contacted your nearest unemployment office or state department of labor office? In my state, their website lists numerous courses that are available to those who are unemployed. Just because you were self-employed doesn't mean you won't qualify for assistance, so be sure to check.
