online course would you like to enroll and learn? Glad to see that even your
somewhat old, you search for online courses and still want to learn.

Your best bet would be to go to a local community college or university and ask their financial aid staff - they would have the best knowledge about both the grants that you would qualify for as well as the ones they will accept.

You should file your FAFSA and you might be eligible for college funding. It is a pretty hard application, but it is the application that schools and governments use to see if you are eligible for grants for scholarships.

I agree with those who have suggested that you check out your community college in your area.  There have been lots of programs in the past that have helped women get on their feet again.  Also FAFSA would be a good place to start too. Good luck in your search, these are hard times for lots of us.

Community colleges should be your best bet. They come at about $2000 per semester which is quite reasonable. Also you will be able to get financial aid under certain conditions (check with the financal aid department). And even better, many colleges give their student on-campus jobs which pay fro m20 to 40K which is a pretty good salary if you don't have other choices.

This will tell you how much in financial aid like http://www.nextstudent.com/ student loans and pell grants you are eligible for. I'd recommend working with the colleges financial aid department or filing directly online at FAFSA.gov. Also, don't forget to look for http://www.nextstudent.com/scholarship-search/scholarship-search.asp scholarships. There's even places that give out up to $50k in scholarships (free money) a month! Hi Rhonda, The Federal government does not generally provide grants to small businesses. Grants.gov provides financing for educational institutions rather than individuals. Your best bet would probably be to apply for a loan. Depending on where you are located, the Self-Employment Assistance program has states pay a self-employed allowance rather than regular unemployment insurance benefits to encourage and enable unemployed workers to create their own jobs by starting their own businesses. Also, the U.S. Department of Education offers loan programs to help students pay for their education. You can use the Loans and Grants search tool to find general financing opportunities. For more information, the Department of Labor's One-Stop Career Centers are great employment resources with services including employment and job training, career planning, guidance, ect. Good luck!
