Online only business DBA registration

I am looking into starting up an online only business and having troubling finding information on what I need to do for registering a business name.  There isn't going to be any storefront so I'm not sure if I still need to register the name with my home state or through some other special method.

Setting up an online store you simply have to incorporate your business either with your county or state and If there is taxable sales involved then you have to obtain a sales tax permit and to open the bank account and filing your corporate taxes you must obtain EIN.   Thanks

I have a LLC setup, and I have just registered a DBA in the name of my online business. I lodged it in the county where my LLC was incorporated. Is it possible to lodge across several states, or even across the country in one application?

You need to register your business name and entity type with your state. You may also need to obtain a sales tax permit and collect sales tax on in-state purchases.

Check with your secretary of state. A DBA is very cheap. I would get an EIN so you do not have to use your SSN. If there is any concern for possible liability I would set up a legal entity for limiting liability.

There is not one application form that can be used in several states. To have your business recognized in other states, you would need to register as a foreign LLC in each state.
