Online Video for Small / Medium Business

I have been convinced of the importance of online video as a tool for small business for a few years now. YouTube for instance, now streams somewhere in the region of 4 Billion videos everyday, but despite this, examples of small business using this media in a "break-out" fashion still seem to be the exception rather than the rule.I am constantly trying to track down authoritive, concise and helpful advice on the web to help others in business get to grips with how and why to use video to promote their products, services and businesses - but this seems to be an area that is surprisingly under-served.While I have helped many people to use online video, I have never gotten in front of the camera myself. I figured, that if nobody else has gone to the trouble of doing this, I might as well, at least try.I have a few questions that I would love to hear your opinion on;
- Do you use online video to promote your business?
- If yes - how has it worked out for you?
- If not, what do you see as the top reasons you havent used online video?
- What areas would you consider most important to cover in a series of online tutorials to help you and others to use online video effectively?
(please respond as a reply to this post)Many thanks in advance for your time. Finbarr

most of them are tuts but many have been for marketing intent and they have
served me well from the aspect of other channels bringing people in and then
the video educating them. The last weekend I was in a bit of spunky mood and
was making another video when I got bored.
This is the subject that feeds my family and holds our future and I was
bored! We often forget, the average person out there really doesn't care what
you have to say or how right you are about it. I feature mobile apps and
sites and I am excited about it, always eager to learn more. My customers
most of the time could care less.
So, for only recreational reasons, maybe show it to a few friends I made this
video:
http://youtu.be/RQJaUNJsosw
Just for the sake of having fun around a subject I like, it is marketing my
business but I certainly had no intent of really using it. I posted it on
Sunday afternoon, by Monday when i looked because a guy called and said he
saw my YouTube and wanted to know how much to have him one made like
that?!?!? I couldn't figure out which one he was talking about until I
noticed it had over 300 views. My whole account on Sunday only had 2400 all
time views (about a year). The guy bought a video.
Then the phone rang again, another saw it but wanted a site. Well it is
Wednesday morning at 5:20am, Video was posted less than 72 hours. I have
inked 6 new customers, 1 a very nice sale, the video is approaching 600
views.
I am not 100% clear on all the lessons of this but I have learned something I
feel pretty sure about now. They don't want to be educated, they want to be
entertained. The education is the fare they are willing to pay for the
entertainment. I have spent a wide array of dollars on videos. This one, has
about $10 worth of Deposit Photos .com and I made it on Corel X5 and Motion
3D Studio (I have the full Adobe Set, but I was goofing and those programs
are more fun to use)
I know this is lengthy but I have taken a lot from this and wanted to share
the full picture so that you might as well. I am analyzing this still so very
happy to hear other opinions. (No worries about hurt pride, again we were
just goofing off.. laughing and having a brew or two on Sunday afternoon just
how you see it is my interest!)

points I what lookers to know about. It also keeps a new viewer on my site
longer which is always good. Video will also allow my site to be found under
more search terms in the different video sites.

Any ideas about how Google ranks videos on SERP ?
For example, does the number of views is taken into account ?
Thankx for your replies.
