hello my name is Robert Tamez, a Mexican citizen I am very interested in opening a Mexican restaurant in dallas, texas, which is what I need so that it can open, what are the costs of the requirements and permits and all that is needed?, many thank you and await your response

Congratulations on your decision to open a restaurant in Dallas! As with so many areas of the US, they have some great resources online that can help you through the process (http://www.dallascounty.org/). As for your start up costs, a lot will depend upon the style, scope and location of your business. But nothing beats a well designed business plan to help you bring them to light (and there are lots of resources and folks around here to help you through that process). I can't speak to the foreign national requirements, but I wanted to chime in as someone who grew up with his parents owning a franchise restaurant....get some professional help before making final decisions. Business licenses etc are important and too many restaurants find out too late that they're not properly permitted. Also, if you're planning on serving wine/beer/drinks or other alcohol, the permitting process in Texas lasts at least 3 months.

You might contact a small business development center or a SCORE office in your area. The counseling is free and they can provide information on what you will need to do and help you with your market research, which is will be considerable for a restaurant.
