I am trying to open a construction company under my company that I currently operate right now which is an engineering firm. How do I go about the registration of a construction company if it is a "branch" of the current corporation and also go about getting the license requirements if I want to operate in multiple states?
Check with the agency in your state that registers businesses. As Jeff mentioned, if you have a corporation, you should be able to open a business under the corporation, which would be a much less expensive alternative. There are some businesses that cannot be opened in that manner, so be sure to check.
I haven't really looked into that. So I would be able to open up a construction company under the engineering firm? That actually sounds like a good option. Thank you
Have you considered doing a "doing business as" (dba.) This would allow you to keep your existing structure and operate under that same business under a different name. It would also be much cheeper than starting a whole new business.
