Question for Moderators about hyperlinks

Hi,

I know there's a rule about not hyperlinking to your own business. I've provided hyperlinks to other businesses or news stories that I have no association with.

I noticed the moderators usually convert them to text-based only.

My question is: I'm assuming it would be easier for you if I/we always make ALL hyperlinks text-based since obviously you have no way of knowing whether we have an association with links we post?

Let me know and I'll make sure to post all the links as text-based (for example, I came across a resource for sharing unused office space and remembered someone here was looking for how to sell their unused office space, so posted that resource for them).

Hi paulms, Thanks for your question. We ask that all members do not link to their site, or any commercialsite, in their posts. Members may link to Federal, state, or local goverment websites for the purpose of sharing verified information. To minimize the misuse of the linking feature, our moderators will make all commercial links within posts 'text only.' You can continue to post text only links to commercial resources that you find valuable.

Because your signature obviously counts as a backlink to your own business would it make sense and be allowed to change your sig. to different keywords in every post? Thanks

echealth - When you edit your signature, all of your previous posts are automatically updated to reflect your new signature. If you added a different link, all of your old posts would show the new link. As a reminder, Community members are allowed one (1) signature link.
