Hi all - I'm new to the forum. I was wondering if anybody might offer guidance or recommend some resources that I could use to determine the tax implications of registering a business name at my home address?
I work for a small corp based in a different state, and I am starting an office in the state of WA. I want to know if I am penalizing myself (from a personal tax perspective) if I use my home address to register the business with the state of WA?

Taxes are related to income and business entity type (corporation, LLC, sole proprietor), not to whether your business is home-based. Before registering your business at your home, however, you may want to check with your city clerk's office and your homeowner's association or your rental or lease agreement to be certain you can have a home-based business.
Because you will have a branch office of an existing company in another state, the company will probably need to register as a foreign corporation doing business in your state. The agency in your state that registers businesses, usually the secretary of state's office, can provide details and you may find the needed forms on their web site.
