Hi! This is Morgan2.I have been on social security for years and i have recently gotten off social security and have been given the opertunity to own my own truck. I had owned my own truck before and had three different trucks before not at once but i have had my my own tractor trailor for years.The question i have is,is there a program,a grant,or a low intrest loan i could get to start up my own business again.

Hi Morgan2 - Unfortunately, the federal government does not provide grants to start a business. However, if you know where to look, you have a good chance at getting a loan to help you get your business going. Have you considered looking into a microloan? These loans are intended to get small amounts of money out to more small businesses. Check out this Quick Guide to Microloans for a background on the program and to see if it might be appropriate for you. Another good resource is the Loans for Business Owners With Poor Credit Scores blog from the Loans and Grants Advisor. Whether or not you actually have poor credit, this blog provides several alternatives to traditional financing avenues that may be good options. Also, try using our Loans and Grants Search Tool to see what other federal or state funding opportunities may be available to you.
