Register LLC under a pseudo name?

For centuries authors, actors and othes in the public spotlight have used a 'pen name', 'pseudo name', 'stage name' or 'alias', often for legitimate purpose of safeguarding their private and personal lives.
I'm a freelance/sub-contract software-engineer with a homebased business. Most of my work is done online, and in full view of the world. To protect my privacy, and sanity going forward, I wish to create a barrier between my professional-life and my personal life.
Essentially I want to create a new 'Professional Persona', with a new 'Stage-Name' to use on my webstites, resume, business-cards, and corporate paper-work etc., this would be easy.
Trouble is once I register as an LLC, anyone would be able to verify through online public-records, my real-name, phone-number, address etc. in seconds. Not to mention issues with creating bank-accounts and signing legal contracts....
How can I create a 'Legal Alias' under which I can register/own/operate my buisness the same as authors, strippers, and Hollywood Starlets have done for ages?
If this is somthing that has to be formally registered with state/federal goverment, as long as it is not PUBLIC-record, that is fine. I have nothing illegal to hide. I just want to enjoy the same level of privacy between work and home life, that any normal person would have had 20 years ago.
Note:
- I'm not looking for a 'Change of Name', I simply want to work under a different name.
- I (don't believe) I want a DBA, as the company name is fine, it's the name the company is registered to I'm concerned about.
Thanks,
Raven
