If your organization has been accepted by the state you should file form SS-4 with the IRS to obtain your Federal Employer Identification Numbver. Typically you need this for opening bank accounts and registering with state and local taxing authorities.

Since you are done with registering your business, you must now file Form NJ-REG to be registered for tax and employer purposes. Business entities that file form NJ-REG only will be subject to a nexus review, initiated and conducted by the Division of Taxation. Filing Form NJ-REG ensures that your business is registered under the correct tax identification number and that you will receive the proper returns and notices. Normally, you will use your federal identification number (FEIN) as the state tax identification number. A business with employees must obtain a FEIN. If you do not have a federal identification number for your business, you may apply for one directly to the IRS online. If you are subject to the entity formation/authorization filing whilst registering your business, you may submit both the business entity and the tax registration filings together. The NJ-REG, however, must be filed within 60 days of filing the new business entity if the registrations are submitted separately. Please further be advised that if you will be an LLC and will be the only employee you do not have to worry about payroll in terms of a getting a payroll services company and having them take care of your payroll processing. Employees who are treated as independent contractors are exempt from having payroll taxes collected out of their paychecks. As the owner and the only employee of a single owner LLC, you do not require to pay payroll taxes.

I believe an NJ-REG is only applicable to businesses registered in the state of New Jersey. Other states have different filing requirements.
