I have a woman owned sign company, and was just told by one of my customers I
should register with the government as "Woman Owned". Does anyone know how I
can do this without a huge expense? Thank you

department called "Office of Supplier Diversity" or something similar. Most
municipalities have a program for minority certifications and woman-owned
business is always on the list. You will need to register, fill out the
application and gather the mountain of paper they require. Warning....this
process is not for the faint of heart and you must be thorough :) But if you
want the certification, you jump through the hoops and if you meet all of the
qualifications, you receive a nice certificate for your wall and a great
bi-line for your business card. I have my certification, but mine is through
the great State of Florida. I found it to be a faster and much easier
application process. Either way, the best part is - it's FREE! It only costs
you time, some copy paper and a few stamps. Good Luck!
