Based on your thoughts, there will be a great number of tips on many subjects. Have you heard of or been involved with Junior Achievement?   It is in many cities and often times it is comprised of students who do many things related to products, businesses, development of ideas, working as a team.    Maybe the best benefit is they inspire.  You get together with your peers, many of whom have similar interests, and it can work as a great source of further motivation and ideas.   Students in the past have gotten together to produce a product with the guidance of an adult with experience.   If you are luckly enough to have an opportunity for advanced education, any post High School business / marketing education will help tremendously.  When you develop personal credit, do your best to keep it as good as possible, you will need it later.   As soon as you can get a business license, may consider spending the $75 to $100 per year to establish a time in business.  I suggest asking looking around within your family and friends and finding two or three business owners, possibly those that make and sell a product, maybe even have a store.  Arrange for a time to go and talk with them.  Tell them very simply and exactly what you are doing.   Most business owners will be very happy to give you their experiences in the business, successes, advice and warnings of pitfalls that will be more specific to exactly what you are developing, that is making a product yourself and selling.   Maybe they will offer you a part time job that can help you learn what is involved in running a store.  If you get a part time job elsewhere, why not take the time to make sure you find a job in a retail store that sells something similar, and work there?   You will learn a lot.   Maybe the job will earn you the money to buy the sewing machine you are interested in.  Look around for craft shows in your area.   Consider signing up for one.    Craft shows will involve driving to a location, setting up tables, showing, selling, writing receipts.   Maybe an older family member or a long time trusted friend can help.   Be carefull about having casual friends help at this!    Craft shows often charge money up front.   Try to determine a break even point, and if you feel sure you will earn money, or at least not lose money.        Enjoy
