Hello, I am In the Pre-startup phase of my business and wondered If it is worth certifying as a Minority owned business and what advantages/disadvantages the 8(a)program has. My mother was Born in Hawaii while my grandfather was Stationed at Pearl Harbor. My Grandmother was a Pacific Islander married to GI. Unsure if the Process is worth it all? Ie. Site visit, 60 days to Receive certification etc. I am a SDVOSB that is awaiting Certification with the VA, Federal Contractor's registry and Illinois procurement office. Recent data doesn't show much Set asides for business's in my Situation. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.
