good deal from an SEO provider.

Is possible that we could join the meeting. I wanted to learn and also share some of our thoughts about SEO. 

You stated you are / will be meeting with people that do SEO and wanted to know what questions you should be asking   There are important questions.  One is ask them to give you examples, that is the names or URL's for a few companies they have successfully done SEO work for and the results for keywords they have ranked them for.   If they are unwilling to do that,  they may have not been in business long,   or may not have produced any strong results for many, or any customers.  That could well be a major red flag.    If an SEO consultant or company is telling you that you should go with their company and use their services, then they should be both able, and willing to offer examples of customers they have obtained high rankings for, and the keywords for which they did it.   In addition, look at the keywords they have ranked other companies highly for, or at the keywords they are proposing to get your page highly ranked for.    Do some research to determine if a significant number of people are searching for this keyword.    Run a PPC campaing for a few days for that keyword and see what kind of traffic you receive.    Whatever traffic you receive from a PPC campaign may be a good indicator of what you will get for organic placement on the 1st page.     Use the Google Adwords tool as a guide for traffic for that word.   Consider using Keyword Discovery or Wordtracker to assess which keywords to search for.   Ask the company what Keywords they would use and what traffic statistics do they show for those or any other words.  For example, you may get excellent traffic if you are ranked for "used cars", but not "used cars fresno".  Find out what results you can expect and rougly how long it will take.    If you will be under contract, and the contract is annual, find out what their policy is for how much the contract will cost in year 2, year 3, etc..   If a company does perform and you are ranked, you may become very dependent on this and if the SEO company jacks up the rates dramatically in the next years, you may feel you have to pay them, or you will lose your critical positions.  Make sure they will not own your site, or any part of your site in the contract by doing the SEO for you.   Ask if they will coach you on what your company can do ongoing to assist in the SEO, that is, will the teach you anything?
