I believe that people who have been penalized had slightly weak link and a placement that was not stable in any case with this update we have won several.

It seems to me that a lot of people didn't even notice the change with Google. I find it intertesting how this was a hit and miss.

I hear alot of people mention unique content. Does unique content mean unique on the internet, or do you mean content that changes all the time. For example my website is about guild website hosting. The content on my front page dosn't change at all, but is written uniquely to our business. Would google see this is as unique content, or does it want fresh content on the front page? Or does it judge the entire website's content and if content changes on other pages. What is the most optimal way for the front page to behave, have unique content that dosnt change with maybe some news blurb that does change ?

Not all websites are created to provide new content all the time, with the exception of forums, blogs, news sites, etc... There are tons of ecommerce, service, and biography sites thats content never changes on the home page and has been the same for the last 10 years, yet they are still number 1 on page 1 of google for a specific term or phrase on that page. Unique and quality content simply means that the page itelf is different than any other pages content on the internet. As we know, duplicate content can sometimes become omitted and fall into the search engines supplimental index. Once a page falls into that index, it will no longer have any presedence in organic search queries and lose it's visits from people using that search engine. There are many factor of SEO/SEM and a search engines algorithm is a complex mathmatical formula that calculates many things when valuing a page. Keep in mind that a page is normally valued individually and not as a whole site combined. An example of this is googles Page Rank (PR), Just because the home page of a website shows that it's a PR8 dosent mean every page of the site is. Matter of fact its more common for most the other pages of a site to remain a PR0. PR link sellers manipulate people by telling them that they will sell them a quality PR9 site link, but the ususpecting link buyer fails to realize the link will be placed on a PR0 page and not the PR8 page they were shown of the home page. Again, on the content issue, I have seen 1 page sites (Called splash pages) that advertise an affiliate product and seem to scroll forever that were created 10+ years ago still on page 1 for search terms and the ciontent of that page has never been changed. Because of that, it's safe to say that constant changing of content is not a requirement, as not all business models require fresh content all the time. However, Unique content 'IS' a factor and should be your primary focus. Remember to always optimise for the viewer before the engines as well, as a viewer is more likely to want to bookmark a site and share it with others that they can fully understand and easily navigate than a site thats gone through a complete search engine manipulation alteration. Just my thoughts, hope it helps :)

I felt the crunch too. I have several businesses running. Some are affiliate programs and some are true brick and mortar companies with a web presence (like my real estate business). Because of Googles stance on affiliate programs. The thing that gets me steamed is that the real estate websites suffered too. It's a touch road to rebuild. I wish they didn't just slap everything that a person owns because they don't like one or two sites (note to self... don't let the dots connect). I guess since I was affected I need to map up a new strategy and just spread my links around so incase google decided to change its formula again I wont be affected as much. I think I learn that no single tool can show all of the backlink. I agree with vectordesigner with the PR link seller. That why more and more people just prefer a blog roll link which is usually found in the main page. You just earn a Kudos vectordesigner from me. Again thanks ...

Thank you vectordesigner for your throughout answer. I have opted to rewrite my content to be as unique as possible and have also added a small news snippet so at least the content has some slight freshness factor. So are you saying that if a site has PR of 9 , but an internal page has a PR of 0 you get zero link juice from it? I heard that this was not true and that you do get some link juice.
