I haven't used tranning classes for my business. But, I used "business studies" as a subject at my High school. It gave me great help to develop my business.
Hi folks
I think one of the most overlooked aspects of business and professional development is EQ or emotional intelligence.
I have attended a number of courses that hone in on emotional factors and self awareness and highly recommend them. The way business is evolving to not start focusing in on these areas, particularly with the advent of social media/networking its imperative businesses have the right education and approach to prosper in a quickly changing landscape.
I also highly recommend any business looking at creating core workplace values in conjunction with employees.
Its the way of the present and its definitely the way of the future.
I found a great training class out here in California that gave me some valuable tools. I even found sponsorship through WIA (Workforce Investment Act) for the classes so my out-of-pocket expense was next to nothing.
Back in the fall I enrolled in an Online Marketing & Advertising class offered by a company called AcademyX (http://www.academyx.com/). In addition to online marketing courses they offer a host of other technical courses that can be useful to anyone looking to jumpstart their career or just brush up existing skills. I absolutely believe what I learned in this 72-hour course was directly applicable to my day-to-day responsibilities as an Online Marketing Coordinator. The campuses of AcademyX are spread across the state and can easily accomodate residents of Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose and Los Angeles.

I didn't take any classes, but I encourage others too. Hands on experiences are irreplaceable, but schooling certainly helps to prep you so that you encounter more "trial" rather than "error".
