Setting up an online business

Hi All,

 

I am trying to setup a online business in the US. The parent company is UK based and they basically want to setup a US branch which I want to run. All the products to be sold will be imported from the UK and sold in the US.

 

What legal requirements should I consider before starting this online business?

There are a number of issues to consider, depending on the size and scope of your company. I started to make a list and realized I was writing a book. Knowing no more than I presently know about your business, there are just too many variables. You really need to talk with a lawyer familiar with the issues of importing your type of product. It would really help if we knew what kind of products you were selling and what business you were trying to open. I think your biggest hurdles are transportation costs and tariff/trade regulations. Good luck find a lawyer that knows international business like the back of his/her hand!
