Small Business Medical Insurance

The SBA provides a very useful advisory role and alternative lending source
for small businesses. It would be also very useful if the SBA would provide a
group medical insurance plan for small businesses.
In general large group plans seem to have better plans with lower premiums.
If the SBA was to setup and offer a group medical plan, they could sign up a
large number of members which should give it some leverage in setting up a
reasonably priced medical plan. It would be a great service to provide to the
small business community. If it was indeed reasonably priced, it could
attract a lot of business owners who don't want the hassle of setting up
their own plans.
I have talked to many small business owners or independent professionals
about this. They all think this is a good idea. It would be a big win for the
SBA to have an offering like this.
What would it take to make this happen?

workers paid 47 percent more in 2010 than in 2005 for family health care
coverage, while wages increased 18 percent. Employers, in contrast, pay 20
percent more than they did in 2005. However, a company’s match on premiums
is only part of the cost. Add in staff time to research and negotiate the
best plan and then administer it, and you better realize the hardships
businesses have keeping pace with exploding health care costs.

necessary now a days. If the SBA offers a reasonably priced medical plan for
small business then this will be helpful. Lot of small business owner will to
do this but due to the unreasonable priced they are not suppose to think on
it.
