I wanted more information on social media and networks. How important are they for my business and where should I start interms of my business planning? I want ot start with facebook. Is that a good start or should I do more research on this?

Social media can be effective for businesses. You need tobe very careful and
have a strategy for long term sustainable results. There are many platforms
that you can use:

Facebook
Twitter
Linked IN - Effective for B2B
Pinterest

You must know that social media is a time consuming and labor intensive. If
you start it, be prepared to post and check it regularly.
