I am a fresh college grad (Bachelor's in computer science) and looking forward to open up a software development business in near future. I would like to get some insights how the software development market is and any important facts that I should consider.
As I am just getting into the real world work environment, I am a newbie in startup business. However, I have been reading information regarding start up businesses. Any kind of feedback would be very helpful.

say, so here I go. This is the ultimate truth behind starting a software
development firm. The best way to go about this is to have a close group of
friends as partners in the start-up. It all goes back to the old idiom, more
minds are better than just one. The most basic truth about a software
start-up is this is Mind Warfare. Those with the best ideas, will come out at
the very top. The more brilliant minds you can gather working together, the
better chance for survival you have. If you're alone, it's like going against
an entire pack of wolves out there. Google knows this, that's why they
attempt to hold a monopoly on the best developers out there. Accept they
started a software development company under the guise of a search engine.

In case you haven't checked out some of our resources for starting a business. You'll find a guide to help you determine if you're ready, details about writing a business plan, and preparing business finances.
As BizReacher said, another great resource is SCORE, one of SBA's resource partners. SCORE is a nonprofit association comprised of thousands of volunteer business counselors throughout the country. They are trained to serve as advisors and mentors to aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners (at no cost to you). You can find your local office or set up an online meeting to chat with someone about your questions.
I have also considered starting a software development company because it seems to be lucrative. This idea came to we when I was searching for a local company that develops an inventory software. The quotation that they sent me was way above my expectation (meaning, it was too expensive) that's why I thought of going into that kind of business. But I don't have an IT background that's why I'm having second thoughts.
If this is your passion, then I'd say you go for it. It really looks promising.
Starting a business is not for the faint hearted. You may want to look for a job in a related field and get some experience while you develop your business idea. You will need a comprehensive business plan. As you do the research for your plan, you will learn about the software development market and any important facts you need to consider.
If you are uncomfortable doing the research for your business plan, you may want to visit with a counselor at a small business development center or a SCORE office. Their services are free and they can help you get started.
