I am brand new to this web site so hope I am asking this question in the correct place. Question: Is there money avaiable for a women in a small community to buy land and begin a housing development? I really do not know much about this procedure as I am just now beginning my study of this prospective venture. The land is currently owned by a local farmer and if developed would most likely could fall within city limits.
Thanks for your question. The government rarely gives grants to individuals looking to start a for-profit business. If you are operating a business as a non-profit and seek to develop land for some kind of transitional housing service for certain at-risk populations, you may be eligible for some grant money. Even in cases where a non-profit is eligible for grant funding, it is not usually a case of 'free' money - you will likely have to match the funds the you receive or meet some other financial requirements.
If you intended to use this land for commercial use (i.e. make a profit off of it), you may be able to take out a loan.
