Do check into local municipality codes, in my area, I was required to purchase a 'Transient license' which allowed me to collect various county-by-county sales taxes. I want to start a business in which I go to child care centers as an extra curricluar activity to teach sports and fitness.  I do  not know what my first steps are in starting up a business or what I need to do with the state of New York to get my business running.  I am in the process of thinking up a business plan but I have the core figured out on who my customers are and what I want to do.    Being that I will be a home based mobile business, what kind of insurance do I need or certificates.

what do u mean by mobile business? I am assuming you mean it goes wherever you go? So, all you need is a laptop and a wifi?   The first you need is a service you can provide like that, which are many these days. The rest is clients  

Can you better explain what you mean by mobile business? Is it for mobile phones or to take a business on the road. You should always start with a business plan. I business plan will get you to think about and plan for all aspects of the business - including how you will amke money, how you will market and how you will grow. Find a SCORE or Small Business Development Office (SBDC) in your area. Both are free to use (part of the SBA) and they can help you research and develop your plan.
