Starting my food imports business

Hello everyone, I am looking to start my own food imports business; in which I will be importing food items like Basmati rice, lentils etc mainly from India and distributing it to various wholesalers and retailers in New England. Since there is heavy involvement of the FDA and US customs, I am looking for a business attorney to incorporate my company. I'm looking for someone who has experience in dealing with clients who run a similar kind of business. Can someone refer me to a good business attorney in the Boston area? Thanks a lot!!!!

Hi Kanan! This is a very nice idea, Now what I can suggest to you is that you can talk about it to your friends might as well they have a relative or friends of friends that are in boston that might help you, you ahve to study first your market with regards to that, take a feasibility study. Now if can't find a local attorney. Try to use this keyword in google 'attorney in boston' there are a lot of names that would appear, you can call them for sure there have some that might help. Since you are looking to incorporate your business, you can also take a look at Business.gov's Business Incorporation Guide as well. Does anyone else have experience starting a food imports business?

You don't have to have the attorney in your local area :)    I can't provide any references in Boston but this guy, Bruce Thelen, in Michigan is pretty great - http://www.dickinson-wright.com/atty2.aspx?user_id=ThelenBC. He is heavily involved in the international bar so he knows all the rules and the import export stuff.   But, if you would prefer to have someone in Boston, take a look at the Martin Dale directory - http://www.martindale.com/. It's really good because they have peer ratings on there.
